Extending our buildings
The bad news is that the total cost of the project (allowing for
inflation etc.) is estimated at over £980,000, though this could
be phased.
The good news is that in spite of these costings Church Meeting
decided to take the next step and seek funding for the
production of plans, permissions etc at a cost of £34,000+.
These are huge sums of money for a relatively small fellowship
to find - all help and prayer gratefully recieved!
Easter People
At times we felt that Easter People wasn't as inspired as in
previous years, but perhaps that because there was a feeling of
marking time in preparation for the big leap next year.
In any case we all had a good time - especially those who had
the good fortune to stay in the wonderful Richmond Hill URC
Manse - just five minutes from the BIC. Many thanks to Donald,
Margaret and Micah Norwood - not to mention the folk of Richmond
Hill URC.
Oxford & Leicester Methodist Synod
Seeing so many eminent faces in the congregation, my thoughts
went back 15 or so years to Sermon Class. However we were very
well recieved - in spite of - or maybe because of - our
different approach to worship.
Our project took another step forward today as we received
costings from Mr John Webb and decided the next step to be taken.
Just after Easter, twenty of us shared in the final 'Easter
People' in the current format. At roughly 13,000 people the
event has become too big and so from next year it will be
branching out into three venues. We have already tentatively
considered Llandudno as our preferred location.
We were delighted (if somewhat suprised) to be invited to lead
worship for the Synod which was held at our Circuit Church -
High St, Witney - on May 6th.
