There was a reddish light glowing in the darkness ahead and as the Black Fox flew down through the dark trees with Morven on his back, she could see that there was a fire burning in the middle of the forest.
And as they came close in the deep quiet of the forest, Morven could hear the fire say -
"Crackle crackle, burn burn
I'm going to burn the North School down.
When it's fallen to the ground
I'm going to laugh I'm going to sing.
Crackle crackle, burn burn."

And Morven was afraid of this sinister fire and felt her face dripping with the heat of it.
"Ride on, Black Fox. Ride on. For the heat of the fire will burn me up," Morven called out. And no sooner had she uttered the words than they were flying once more over forests and mountains. And the moon seemed close enough to touch.
