DEVONIAN -
DUTCH CREEK STEP-OUT INITIATED IN CLAY COUNTY, ILLINOIS – Early this week
GEORGE N. MITCHELL DRILLING were moving a rotary rig on a 4400’ Dutch
Creek test for Midland, Texas
based R K PETROLEUM.
Permitted is their #1 Fatheree, 330’FSL 330’FWL NE NE section 17-3N-5E, Clay County, Illinois. This is six miles
west of Louisville, Illinois
on the southeast edge of the Oskaloosa South Field. Discovered in 1951 the Oskaloosa South
reef complex has produced in excess of 1/2 MMBO. PHIL CASEROTTI
is the geologist/geophysicist on this wildcat for RK.
DEVONIAN
– NEW ALBANY TEST PERMITTED IN CRAWFORD COUNTY, ILLINOIS – TRENDWELL MID-CONTINENT, INC., Greenville, Michigan, have
permitted a 2900’ Devonian wildcat in northern Crawford County, Illinois
with their #B4-2 Phipps, 330’FNL 330’FEL NE NE in section
2-8N-13W. This is eleven miles
northwest of Robinson, Illinois
on the northwest edge of the expansive Main Consolidated Field. An Advance Energy Services rotary will
drill this test.
NEW
ALBANY TEST TO BE DRILLED IN McLEAN COUNTY, KENTUCKY
– Fourteen miles southeast of Henderson, Kentucky
MERIDIAN RESOURCES & EXPL., LLC have permitted a
4200’ vertical New Albany
test with their #1-3N25 Sandefur Brothers. Located 2262’FNL
1381’FEL section 3-N-25, this is ½ of a
mile northwest of production in the Comer Field and equal distance southeast of
the McKinley Field.
SANGAMON COUNTY, ILLINOIS
– RONALD G. LOCKWOOD has been issued two 2050’ Silurian
wildcat permits in Sangamon
County, Illinois. Newly
permitted are their #1-L Holmes, 330’FNL 400’FWL NE NW and their #2-L Holmes, 990’FNL 400’FWL NE
NW, both in section 12-14N-5W.
These are seven miles southeast of Springfield, Illinois and two miles west of the New City Field. A BI-PETRO,
INC. rotary will drill these wildcat tests.
McCLOSKY STEP-OUT TO BE DRILLED IN SPENCER COUNTY, INDIANA
– BIG MAN OIL
CO., Owensboro, Kentucky, will drill a 1200’ McClosky
wildcat with their #1 Dennis Foertsch, 330’FNL
990’FWL NE NE section
26-5S-4W. This is one mile
southeast of production in the Fulda Field and five
miles north of Troy, Indiana. A Freddie Lewis rotary will drill this
interesting test.

WARSAW
WILDCAT TEST SET TO SPUD IN WABASH COUNTY, ILLINOIS
– Two miles southwest of Mt. Carmel, Illinois
ROGER V. JOHNSON & company are preparing to drill a 3999’ Warsaw test
with their
#1 Timberlake.
Located 330’FNL 330’FEL
SE NW section 31-1S-12W this is two miles east of the New Harmony Consolidated
Field and one mile west of the Wabash
River. A FIVE P DRILLING rotary was scheduled to
move on the #1 Timberlake late this week.
McCLOSKY STEP-OUT DRILLING IN GIBSON COUNTY, INDIANA
– Early this week R K PETROLEUM CORP., Midland, Texas, had Gwaltney Drilling initiate drilling on their #1 Schmitt, a
2300’ McClosky test located 990’FSL
330’FWL SE NW in section 26-2S-11W. The #1 Schmitt site is three miles
southwest of Princeton, Indiana
and ¾ of a mile southwest of production in the Princeton North
Field.
KNOX
COUNTY, INDIANA– REX ENERGY OPERATING CORP., Bridgeport, Illinois, have
completed drilling their #1 HD K. Holscher, 150’FNL 330’FEL NE NW SE section 2-5N-9W. This is two miles northeast of Oaktown,
Indiana and the first of two horizontal New
Albany Shale tests they have permitted in northern Knox
County. Late this week PIONEER OILFIELD
SERVICES’ rotary rig #1 was scheduled to move on REX’S #1 HD H.
Taylor, 150’FSL 150’FEL
SE SW NW in section 15-5N-9W.
This site is 1½ miles east of Oaktown,
Indiana. Both are 3500’ horizontal New
Albany Shale tests.
DUBOIS &
DAVIESS COUNTIES, INDIANA NEW ALBANY ACTIVITY – Currently EL PASO has LES WILSON’S
rotary rig #27 on their #2-33H Wening, a 2400’
horizontal test located 160’FSL 1800’FEL SE in section 33-1N-5W, Dubois County,
Indiana. The #2-33H Wening site is four miles northwest of Jasper, Indiana. Last week they finished drilling
on their #1-5H Kinder, a 2400’ horizontal New Albany test 188’FSL 1980’FWL SW SW in section 5-4N-6W, Daviess County, Indiana.

have completed drilling the vertical portion of ELYSIUM ENERGY’S #1-6H Middlefork, a 2700’ horizontal New Albany Shale test
located 180’FSL 2100’FEL
SE in section 6-6N-8W. This
site is three miles northeast of Carlisle, Indiana
near the Shiloh Field. Newly
permitted this week by ELYSIUM ENERGY, LLC in Sullivan
County is their #1-23H Hiatt, a
2700’ horizontal New Albany Shale/Devonian test located 180’FSL 1200’FWL SW
NW section 23-7N-9W. This site is
three miles south-southeast of Sullivan, Indiana
in proximity of the Paxton Field.
KNOX
COUNTY, INDIANA – AURORA
ENERGY, LTD. Traverse City, Michigan have permitted
their #C1-14H Hancock, 1475’FSL 842’FWL SW section 14-2N-8W and their #B4-34HD Martin, 2316’FNL 330’FEL NE section 34-2N-8W. Last week they were issued a permit to
drill their #D2-34H Perry, 330’FSL 1491’FWL SW section 34-2N-8W. This activity is four miles
southeast of Monroe City, Indiana
on the south end of the Monroe City Consolidated Field. All are 2800’ horizontal New
Albany tests. RICK SUMNER is the geologist
on this project for AURORA. An
Advance Energy Services rotary will drill these tests.
