Artist's Statement

Regarding her artwork, CB Follett has work in many collections both nationally and internationally. She has a studio at ArtWorksDowntown, a community of over 40 artists working in studios open to the public, located at 1331 Fourth St., San Rafael, CA 94901.

Much of my work is driven by color and texture and I am intrigued by the interplay of different media working together in each piece to form a single event. I am constantly curious.

As I am also a professional poet, I like to incorporate words and sayings, sometimes even poems, into the work. I like the way the writing becomes part of the piece and often gives it strength by the flow of letters.

I switched from clay to acrylic/mixed media several years ago, and began to give it my serious attention in 1993 when I was able to rent a studio and spread out all the media that I like to incorporate in the pieces. It is like falling into a candy factory, so succulent are the materials and colors.
