Trained counselors, who are chaplains of different faiths, will be available for residents (and the police officers themselves) to offer support in areas such as comforting grieving families during death notifications and to also assist in police related matter and other crises. These chaplains will each carry official Cheltenham Police Chaplain badges and they will be on duty 4 - 6 hours each month. "We regret to inform you of the cancellation of the Chester County flower Show. " Produced by the board of Family Service of Chester County, the flower show did have a sucessful run. It was considered to be one of the top shows in the region. Lack of donations, sponsorship and the loss of their warehouse space (owned by QVC) were all contributing factors in the cancellation. The Family Service is a private, nonprofit social services agency which is based in West Chester. |

Snow EmergenciesWhenever snowfall over 2 inches is predicted or a Snow Emergency is declared, no parking is permitted on Snow Emergency Routes. In addition, vehicles traveling on Snow Emergency Routes must be equipped with chains or snow tires.
|
First, all sidewalks -- residential and commercial -- and parking lots must be
cleared within 30 hours after snow has stopped falling, in accordance with a Township
Ordinance. However, snow may not be piled into the street or on fire hydrants --
violators will be subject to fines or other penalties.
In addition, residents are urged to park their cars in their driveways during inclement weather so snow removal crews can plow curb-to-curb, clearing the widest possible path for traffic. Residents who must park in the street can avoid congestion and potential accidents by not parking opposite other driveways. Parked cars must be removed from Snow Emergency Routes whenever forecasts predict ice-storms or snow accumulations over 2 inches. As soon as snow or freezing rain starts to fall, crews begin to salt and cinder primary highways. Residents should try to stay on these main thoroughfares. Plowing begins after 3 to 4 inches accumulates. Motorists should stay well behind plows and salt trucks to give them ample room to operate. After primary routes are clear, plowing begins on secondary streets. During a snow emergency, residents should check radio or television broadcasts for the latest conditions. The Cheltenham cable television access channel is 42; the school district's closing number is 306. Finally, township officials ask residents to remain patient. Inclement weather slows snow crews as well as motorists. Residents' cooperation will help the township conduct an efficient snow removal operation.
