Centre Management

The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee (Chairman Mr J Martin) consists of the Association’s principal officers plus a number of elected members, and is elected annually. Its purpose is to manage the Association's business and appoints Sub - Committees and Working Groups as necessary to aid its work.
The Executive Committee  is helped by the following:-

The Finance Committee (Chairman Mr A D Marsh) works closely with the Hon. Treasurer. It meets monthly to authorise expenditure, monitor financial transactions, prepare annual budgets and accounts and advise the Executive Committee on financial matters.
The Galleon Catering Group (Co-ordinator Mr R A Day) is responsible for organising the Galleon Catering volunteers.
The Building Development Group (Co-ordinator Mr C Eagle) plans and supervises all major building projects.
The Maintenance Volunteer Group is a team of members, men and women, who do a considerable amount of repair, maintenance and construction work in and around our buildings. They save us considerable sums of money annually as may be seen by reading their annual report which is posted on the notice board at the foot of the Wellington stairs. They take pride in their work which needs no more than amateur handyman skills and they welcome new members. If you would care to join them please leave your name, address and phone number at the front desk.
The Canteen Helpers Group (Co-ordinator Mrs P Allott) is responsible for co-ordinating the volunteers who serve refreshments in the Common Room. This Group advises the Executive Committee on matters concerned with catering and the facilities provided in the Common Room.
The Cinema Group is responsible for the organisation and running of the Centre Cinema (see Cinema Programme).
The Centre Taskforce (Co-ordinator Miss D Andrews) meets bi-monthly and advises on furnishings, interior decoration and cleaning. Members check and replenish the contents of all the First Aid boxes and suggest improvements to the Centre's facilities. Members maintain the Centre gardens throughout the year; and during the summer closure carry out an extensive cleaning programme of curtains, kitchen equipment and garden furniture. Volunteers to join this friendly group will be most welcome. We have an annual social lunch at Christmas time.
Safety & Security Advisor (Officer Mr H M Townsend) advises on all aspects of safety and security, including compliance with relevant legislation, and carries out regular reviews and inspections of the premises and its equipment. Independent annual checks are also made by the County Fire Officer and qualified electrician. If any members have comments or suggestions to raise on safety matters they may do so via the Suggestions Book as this ensures that they are made available to your Executive Committee for overall review.
