Entrance Hymn #674 WOV "Alleluia! Jesus Is Risen"

.

Dialog of God's Majesty:

A. Blessed may you be, O Lord, God of Israel our father, from eternity to eternity.

C. Yours, O Lord, are grandeur and power, majesty, splendor, and glory.

A. For all in heaven and on earth is yours.

C. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom: you are exalted as head over all.

A. Riches and honor are from you.

C. And you have dominion over all.

A. In your hand are power and might.

C. It is yours to make great and give strength to all.

A. Therefore, O God, we give you thanks.

C. And we praise the majesty of your name.          1 Chr.29:10-13

.

Hymn of Praise: "Doxology"

.

Prayer of the Day:

P. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C. And also with you.

P. Let us pray. Holy and righteous God, you created us in your image. Grant us grace to contend fearlessly against evil and to make no peace with oppression. Help us, like your servant Anselm, to use our freedom to bring justice among people and nations, to the glory of your name; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

C. Amen

.

First Lesson: Romans 12:9-21

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." No, "if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The word of the Lord.

C. Thanks be to God.

.

Second Lesson: St. Luke 6:20-36

And Jesus lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you that hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you that weep now, for you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. But woe to you that are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you that are full now, for you shall hunger. Woe to you that laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets. But I say to you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to every one who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them again. And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

The word of the Lord.

C. Thanks be to God.

Sermon

Hymn of the Day #678 "Christ Has Arisen, Alleluia"

.

Nicene Creed:

C. We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

.

C. And also with you.

All share the peace of the Lord.

.

Prayer of Blessing for a Chalice & Paten:

P. I will take the cup of salvation:

C. And call on the name of the Lord.

P. Taste and see that the Lord is good.

C. Happy are they who trust in him.

P. Let us pray. Almighty God, whose blessed Son instituted the Sacrament of his Body and Blood: Grant that all who receive the holy Mysteries from these vessels, which we now consecrate for use in your Church, may be sustained by his presence and enjoy for ever his heavenly benediction; who lives and reigns in glory everlasting.

C. Amen

After the gifts have been prepared:

Prayer Before Communion:

P. Lord, this is your feast,

C. Prepared by your longing, spread at your command, attended at your invitation, blessed by your own word, distributed by your own hand, the undying memorial of your sacrifice upon the cross, the full gift of your everlasting love, and its perpetuation till time shall end. Lord, this is Bread of heaven, Bread of life, that, whoever eats it, shall hunger no more. And this the Cup of pardon, healing, gladness, strength, that, whoever drinks it, never thirsts again. So may we come, O Lord, to your table. Lord Jesus, come to us. Amen     Eric Milner-White, 1884-1964
