Preface List of Papers

This is a index, and links to indexes, of over 100 of my papers requested by students and professionals in Web communications, graphic design, photography, art history, related fields and other topics. I wish I could make all available on the Web but, I lack the required server space. Some can also be found in the servers and libraries of institutions, interest groups and associations, newsgroups, and industry sites. If you can not find a paper you wish please email me and I will send it as text-only for all systems.

The papers listed are individually copyrighted by me. Most were written between 1992 and 1999. This list does not include papers on older graphic arts principles and techniques, now practiced by only a few. I have also eliminated papers on photographic techniques using chemicals abandoned by professionals as dangerous, and now used only by a few colleges.

In a field as extensive and diverse as art communications, no man is an island. I would greatly appreciate your comments for any paper, when they enhance the information offered, pro or con, and will add these to the paper with full credit.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes"
- Proust

Photography
This field is currently experiencing rapid technological changes and expanding markets. However, the principles of visual communication in this field have traditionally been viewed as more narrow, and thus appear to change faster than those of most other arts. To try to satisfy all interests I included my papers on both new and old principles and techniques.
