• MAY 31st & JUNE 1st, 2002 - 9th Annual Canadian Olde Tyme Fiddle & Step Dance Contest, Douro, ON. Contest is being held in the Douro Community Centre (on Hwy 134) North of Highway 7, South of Hwy 28 - just 10 minutes east of Peterborough, ON. Competition begins on Friday at 7 pm and continues on Saturday at 9 am (all day). Finals commence on Saturday evening at 7 pm. More than $5,000 prize money plus numerous beautiful trophies. • July 4th, 2002 -New Boston Announces Second Annual Fiddler's Contest New Boston, NH – The New Boston Fourth of July Association, Inc., the committee responsible for planning the town’s annual Fourth of July Celebration, announces that it will host New Boston's Second Annual Fiddler’s Contest at this year’s event on Thursday, July 4. The Fiddler’s Contest will coincide with other celebration events at the Hillsborough County 4-H fairgrounds and will take place at 2:00 p.m. on the fairground stage. Frank Woodward, local musician and event organizer, says, “Last year's [inaugural] contest was a great success and we expect this year to be even better. People can expect to hear great music by talented musicians from all age groups.” The contest will have three categories with cash prizes awarded in each. This year's contest will be judged by three judges from the North American Fiddle Judges Association (NAFJA), according that organization's standard contest rules. Contestants are encouraged to register in advance, but registration will remain open until 1:30 p.m. on the day of the event. • August 17th & 18th - The Coeur D'Alene Casino Fiddle Contest will be held on August 17th and 18th, 2002! The Casino is located 30 miles south of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.
