Essay Caudipteryx was a small theropod dinosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period in what is now China. Primitive feathers covered much of its body and its short forelimbs could be described as either feathered arms or clawed wings. Although incapable of flight, this animal possessed physical features linking it to birds. It seems likely that one group of dinosaurs may have survived the extinction of the dinosaurs, continuing to thrive today as birds. |
