I have decided to add a grade for your art history notebook. Because this was enacted immediately before Spring 2006 semester, these students may decide what percentage of the course grade they wish, limited to max. 15% In grading.
Requirements:
Notebook must be a 3-ring binder with divider pages that have tabs for labels that protrude out from the notebook paper. You may use any such binder, but the easiest to use is the type that the front cover folds back completely under the binder. This works best on desks with small working space.
The notebook should be neatly and legibly labeled with your name on the cover and binder edge.
Dividers should be neatly labeled:
1: course syllabus
2. "Calendar of Reading Assignments and Due Dates" syllabus addendum
3. printout of terms introduction and terms for your course (both from web Index page)
4. your notes and images for your Museum Visit Report
5. your tests taken to date
6. your class lecture notes, and blank paper for additional notes if needed.
In grading will pay particular attention to completeness, neatness, and especially your lecture notes.
Lecture notes must be in your handwriting (no retyping). As an artist trained to see and remember details, I will notice similar handwriting and phrases and spot copying. This is acceptable for one or missed lectures, but not for many days of lecture. Indications of mass-copying will result in a "0" for the notebook grade, and a "0" for the participation grade, zero for close to 20% of the overall course grade.
This notebook should be carried to every class, and I may ask to see and grade it anytime for a partial grade, and anytime after mid-semester for a full grade.
I will ask for and return immediately, or ask to see the notebooks before two weeks before the final course grade so you can study for your final exam.
One date will be set aside for the notebook grading. If you are ill send it by someone. This will not be accepted late.
