Bible Study and House Groups
Groups meet at various times, and usually in private houses, for bible study, prayers, Lent courses, enquiries groups (for those who are exploring the possibility of confirmation) etc. Full details are included in the Link Magazine. For details of current groups, please contact either of the Churchwardens.
Bell-Ringing
Woolavington Church has a very fine peal of 8 bells. The earliest bell dates from 1400 and the other original ones are dated 1550, 1611, 1691 and 1953. The two newest bells were cast in 1987. Bellringing can be a very interesting hobby for both adults and children (12+) so if you would like to find out more about it why not come to practice which is held in the church tower (entrance at the back of the church) on a Friday evening at 7.30pm? Alternately please contact Edwin Dibble, Bell Captain (07970 980637).
Flower Arranging/Sanctuary
Anyone visiting Woolavington Church at the time of a Flower Festival would appreciate the wonderful arrangements of flowers. However, would they know that these are done in the main by Woolavington people? The same people also take it in turns to decorate the Church for weddings and for Sunday services. Some also help with Sanctuary cleaning, which among other tasks, involves a little brass cleaning. If you enjoy flower arranging or could help with the odd task of cleaning, why not phone
Vera Sharpe (01278 684626) who can give you further details? Your help would indeed be much appreciated.
Social/Fund-raising
Social and fund-raising events are organised throughout the year by the Fund-raising Committee and Mothers' Union. Not only do these events (which are well advertised) provide much needed money for the church but they are an opportunity for great fellowship. If you have any ideas for fund-raising or can help in any way please contact either
Jan Reade (01278 684230) or Alan Miller (01278 683704).
